piedbab6The KRC currently provides a base for seven long-term individual-based research projects run by different universities: meerkats (Cambridge and Zurich), Damaraland mole-rats (Cambridge), Cape ground squirrels (Zurich and Cambridge), bat-eared foxes (University of Western Cape), pied babblers (University of West Australia and Cape Town), hornbills (Cape Town), drongos (Cape Town and British Columbia) and leopard tortoises (Zurich). Research programs focus on a wide range of issues in behavioural ecology, evolutionary biology, population demography, eco-physiology, epidemiology and population genetics.
