The KRC currently provides a base for seven long-term individual-based research projects run by different universities: meerkats (Cambridge and Zurich), Damaraland mole-rats (Cambridge), Cape ground squirrels (Zurich and Cambridge), bat-eared foxes (University of Western Cape), pied babblers (University of West Australia and Cape Town), hornbills (Cape Town), drongos (Cape Town and British Columbia) and leopard tortoises (Zurich).
